Super Bowl To Be Streamed to Mobile Phones

The Super Bowl will be streamed online and to mobile phones for the first time.

The NFL said Tuesday that NBC’s broadcasts of wild card Saturday, the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl would be available on the league’s and network’s websites and through Verizon’s NFL Mobile app. The package will include additional camera angles, in-game highlights and live stats.

NBC already streams its “Sunday Night Football” telecasts online and to Verizon phones.

The Super Bowl is Feb. 5 in Indianapolis. The game is annually by far the biggest attraction on television, with last season’s Packers-Steelers matchup drawing a record U.S. audience for any show with 111 million viewers.

Ban on Cell Phones Use While Driving?

 

U.S. drivers couldn't send text messages or use mobile phones -- even with headsets or portable speakers -- under a U.S. National Transportation Safety Board recommendation aimed at preventing distracted-driving crashes.

"Too many people are texting, talking and driving at the same time," NTSB Chairman Deborah Hersman said at a hearing in Washington today. "It's time to put a stop to distraction. No call, no text, no update is worth a human life."
